AI video editing, feature by feature.

OpenVids is a free, open-source, agent-first video editor for macOS and Windows. Its AI video editing features: agents that edit from text prompts, a Story Graph that turns chapters into a rough cut, a Motion Designer for titles and stings, and a Research agent that keeps track of licenses.

Render QA: a render that reviews itself

After the edit, an agent watches every render the way a viewer would, fixes what it can, and leaves the editorial calls to you. In the demo project it works in passes:

  1. Render
  2. Review
  3. Fix
  4. Re-render
  5. Final pass

    Dissolve starts mid-pan

Moved the edit 10 frames earlier, to where the pan settles.

  • Black frames · 00:51Fixed

    4 black frames before Screen_Code_Walk

Slipped Desk_Broll_03 12 frames earlier, ahead of the fade.

Three static shots hold 13–14 s each between 00:40 and 01:19.

Render QA is part of every feature above rather than a separate tool. The agents page shows what else it caught.

How the pieces fit

The demo project on the landing page, the OpenVids Trailer, moves through three workspaces: Media, Story, and Edit. Footage comes in. The Story Graph holds the chapters. Build lays the cut. Agents refine it on the timeline, and render QA checks the export. You can step in anywhere, because every change lands on a timeline you can take over.

Describe the film.

Agents build the chapters, cut the edit, add motion and sound, and review the render. The final calls stay yours.
