What this site keeps.
This note covers the openvids.ai website, not the OpenVids desktop app. It’s short because the site collects very little.

Analytics
We use two analytics tools: Umami, which we host ourselves at analytics.openvids.ai, and Cloudflare Web Analytics. Both work without cookies and report aggregate numbers:
- which pages are viewed,
- which sites sent visitors here,
- country,
- device and browser type.
Clicks on the Discord, GitHub, X, email, and download links are counted the same way, as totals.
Session replays and heatmaps
For a sample of visits (about 15%), Umami also records how the page is used: mouse movement, clicks, scrolling, and navigation between pages, for up to five minutes per visit. We watch these recordings, and the click and scroll heatmaps built from them, to see where the site is confusing. Recordings are stored on our own server, still without cookies, don’t include anything you type (the site has no forms anyway), and are deleted after 30 days.
Server logs
Like most web servers, ours keeps access logs: IP address, user agent, the URL requested, the response status, and the time. We keep them for up to 90 days and use them for security and to see which search and AI crawlers visit the site. They aren’t used to build personal profiles, aren’t shared, and aren’t used for ads.
Reddit ad measurement (only if you accept)
We advertise OpenVids on Reddit. To see which ads lead to downloads, we use the Reddit Pixel, but only after you press Accept in the cookie banner. Until then nothing from Reddit loads and nothing is sent to Reddit.
Once you accept, the pixel is run by Reddit, Inc. and it:
- sets cookies on openvids.ai whose names start with
_rdt_, such as_rdt_uuid, a random ID for your browser; - sends Reddit the pages you view here, the page that sent you, clicks on the download, GitHub, and Discord links, your IP address, browser and device details, and screen size;
- if you arrived from a Reddit ad, keeps the ad’s click ID (
rdt_cidin the link) in your browser for up to 28 days, so a later download can be credited to that ad.
When you start a download, our server also sends Reddit a copy of that event (Reddit’s Conversions API) with the same details: IP address, browser user agent, the _rdt_uuid ID, and the click ID. Our server passes it on and doesn’t keep it. Reddit can match these events with your Reddit account if you have one; its privacy policy covers what happens next.
The legal basis is your consent, and you can change your mind at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. Reject removes the Reddit cookies set on openvids.ai and the stored click ID, and nothing more is sent. Your choice itself is stored in your browser (localStorage), not in a cookie. Ad blockers and Reddit’s own privacy settings also limit ad tracking.
What the site doesn’t do
No accounts, no forms, and no ads on the site itself. The only cookies are the Reddit ones above, and only if you accept them.
Links to other sites
Discord, GitHub, Reddit, and X have their own privacy policies, and those apply once you follow a link there.
