Who Adobe Premiere is for

First, the name: Adobe now calls the app Adobe Premiere on its product and help pages.1,3 We use Premiere Pro in the title because that’s the name people search for.

Adobe positions Premiere as “professional video editing and postproduction software” for films, music videos, podcasts and commercials.1,2 It runs on Windows 11 and macOS Sonoma or later, and plans include Premiere on iPhone.3,4 Activation needs an internet connection, an Adobe ID and acceptance of the license agreement.3

Its AI features sit inside a conventional edit: Generative Extend adds frames to the start or end of a clip, Media Intelligence searches footage by what’s in it, and Text-Based Editing works from a transcript.2,5 Generative features use credits.4

Premiere is available only by subscription, with a 7-day free trial. The single-app plan is US$22.99/month on an annual plan billed monthly, as of October 2026, and prices vary by region. See Adobe’s Premiere plans.4

Where OpenVids differs

Premiere speeds up individual tasks with AI tools. OpenVids hands whole tasks to agents and lets you review the result.

Agents with jobs
Main shapes the rough cut, Motion Designer builds titles and stings, Audio evens out dialogue and trims music, Research finds sources. The agents.
Ask, Plan, Edit
The mode sets how far an agent goes: answer a question, propose a plan, or change the timeline.
Review loop
Every result is a change you can review, and you can take over the timeline at any point.
Story Graph
Chapters hold the story; Build turns them into a cut. How it works.
Render QA and sources
An agent watches every render, and Research tracks licenses and credits.
Cost and code
Free and open source. Your media stays on your disk.
